Time Top Vancouver Public Art

Time Top By Jerry Pethick Time Top is a piece about time traveling. The artist has created what looks like a 1940s-style space ship. The piece was submerged for two years so that the surface would become encrusted with sea life. The sculpture was given a low-level electrical charge to attract crustaceans to its surface. Its position on the shoreline encourages the idea that it has washed up from the depths. Artist Statement: “The inspiration [...]

WaterWork By Tony Bloom Outside BC Hydro Building

Waterwork By Tony Bloom Tony Bloom Waterwork photograph was created on an overcast day using a nice shallow depth of field. I really like the mood of this piece. Sculptor Tony Bloom works primarily in steel, copper, bronze, and aluminum, producing sculpture which ranges from intimate, hand-held objects to outdoor monumental-sized plaza pieces. Often Tony Bloom’s artwork involves or implies movement, sound, water, or wind, and can have a functional aspect or reference, such as [...]

Various art pieces have been on show along the pedestrian strip of Granville Street, north of Robson Street, since before the Olympics. Vancouver Graffiti .. More Love Another instance of the Graffiti of my “Love” post from a few months ago. This piece of graffiti art shows up all over my area of Vancouver .. I believe it’s from a guy who was jilted by his lover; he must of done something really bad, because after all these attempts at retribution, even I would want him back .. Love this “Dog Love” art! A wonderful piece of [...]

This photo is of my Wife viewing hospital art whilst waiting for the elevator. She has just had a operation to remove bone fragments from her paw. Does art have a place in hospitals? Grayson Perry (Article taken from the British Times Newspaper) [...]

Beach Sculpture By Bernar Venet

Image of the sculpture ’217.5 ARC X13′ by the French artist Bernar Venet, shown as part of the Vancouver Sculpture Bienalle. The problem with art is that it always seems to come into our lives from out of nowhere, like a surprise party. One day you’re doing some very normal things – jogging the seawall, awaiting the arrival of your half-caff latte, thinking about sushi – when BAM, there it is.  Something way out of [...]
